Region 11 Help Me Grow IEIC
In the fall of 2010, a statewide stakeholder group was convened to develop recommendations to determine the best approach for restructuring the current Interagency Early Intervention Committees (IEICs). These recommendations were reviewed and approved with some modifications by the Governor’s Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) in February, 2011. Among these approved recommendations were changes to how Part C money flows and a recommendation to regionalize the IEICs, reducing the current 95 committees to 13.
The amount of Part C funds available to Minnesota (dependent on federal approval of Minnesota’s Part C application and continuation of federal funding) will be distributed as follows:
- 20% to Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) will retain for state priorities
- 10% to CSPD (Centers of Excellence-money flows from MDE to Regional Low Incidence Projects as fiscal hosts)
- 10% to Regional IEICs
- 60% to Special Education Administrative Units (SEAUs)/Local Education Agency (LEA)
Our regional IEIC is now the Region 11 Help Me Grow IEIC which covers the seven county metro area. The fiscal host for our new IEIC is Metro ECSU (Educational Cooperative Service Unit of the Metropolitan Twin Cities Area)
